Frequently asked questions
It’s an easy fix, and you have a couple of options:
Option 1 – Quick Fix: Crack an egg on top of the brown sugar in the jar, break the yolk, and let it sit for about 10 minutes. The moisture from the egg will soften the sugar so you can continue with the recipe.
Option 2 – Overnight Fix: Place a slice of bread on top of the brown sugar and let it sit overnight. The sugar will absorb the moisture from the bread and soften by morning.
If you’re out of eggs or need an alternative, try one of the options below for each large egg:
1. ¼ cup of yogurt – adds richness and moisture.
2. ¼ cup of unsweetened applesauce – keeps your mix soft and slightly sweet.
3. ¼ cup of mashed banana – adds natural sweetness and a hint of banana flavour.
4. Flax or chia egg – mix 1 tbsp of ground flaxseed or chia seeds with 3 tbsp of water and let it sit for a few minutes until it thickens.
